Tell Me You Froze Your Credit

How many of you have put a freeze on your Equifax, Experian and TransUnion credit reports?

It has been almost a year since we learned of the scary and outrageous hack on Equifax. My data was supposedly compromised and many of you also received the same message. What have you done about about? Have you created a Social Security Account -- see my post "The Holy Grail - Protect Your Social Security Account."

If you are imminently making a large purchase, car or home, and know your credit will be checked, you can wait, otherwise, take 30 minutes this weekend to go to the three national credit reporting bureau websites and sign up and lock your credit and your spouses.

The cost to freeze is free through June 30, 2018. After that unlocking and locking your credit report may involve fees depending upon which state you live in. The cost, if any depending upon federal laws going forward, however is minuscule compared to the alternative if G-d forbid your identity is stolen and credit compromised.
